How I Met a Friend Called ‘Radio’

I was 4 or prolly 5 years old when I enjoyed listening radio, so much for the first time. I was accompanying my Mom for evening’s cook without helping her to cook haha. That was fun, all I did was singing and dancing like a junior pop star. There was a local radio playing kid songs such as Libur Telah Tiba by Tasya Kamila who is just married a month ago, Kebelet Pipis by Joshua,  Andai Aku Besar Nanti by Sherina Munaf who is still my favorite singer, airing around 3 pm up to 5 pm, but I didn’t get the name of the program. I was a kid tho. Fyi, I’m writing this blog with listening Andai Aku Besar Nanti which means “If I grow up later”, and now I discover I’m heading my adulthood. So emotional 🙁

Next,  when I was in junior high school, my radio music playlist changed into more a ‘teenager’s style’. The songs were mostly about love, people requested songs they wanted to hear and sent regards through a radio who is still relevant with radio nowadays. I were listening the music given by the announcers, and that felt fun. When I wasn’t in a good mood, I played the radio, and it worked, the feeling pulled the lip line to curve.

Until I found a remarkable weekly radio program entitled Gunungkidul di Hari Esok. This program was a talk show discussing some ideas about Gunungkidul, and the way they talked the idea was fascinating. It was like the speakers delivered positive vibes to the listeners. I was in senior high school, I found that program was cool and somehow inspiring for a teenager in that age. Shortly, I was involved in some projects with those speakers (I can’t mention your name guys hahaha), I was offered as an announcer owning my very own program. That was remarkable! I can’t say it as a lucky moment, because achievement does not come in vain, but it is strived. Ok? Yes!

My high school’s life was over, I left my activity as announcer, and here I go, a college student. On my fifth semester, I joined an audition for the new announcer in a radio station, one of national radio station in Indonesia. I did it, airing again, and It’s my job until now haha. To be an announcer is my happiness. My friend said, the world may change, but there’s always a room for radio listeners. I still have to learn a lot, because it requires not only capability in public speaking, but also the broader knowledge, how to entertain, sharing the information effectively, and making friend with the listeners.

Selamat Hari Radio Nasional 🙂
